Year 11 VSV student, Ella, recently won bronze at the Asian Grand Prix International Ballet competition.

Ella, who has been learning ballet for five years, said she was surprised by the award.

‘This was my first big competition. I saw it as a nice opportunity to perform and did not put any pressure on myself.

‘I’m really proud of myself. It’s nice to see my hard work starting to pay off,’ she said.

Every week Ella trains for an average of 35 hours.

‘I enjoy trying to perfect and improve my technique’ she said.

Ella acknowledged it’s a challenge balancing dance and school.

‘I try to do most of my work early in the morning and on Sundays,’ she explained.

‘I feel very supported at VSV. My Learning Adviser, Monika, is always there to answer my questions and helps me stay on track. If I get behind, Monika and my teachers help me.’

Ella is currently training for the finals in Hong Kong in December.

Good luck Ella!
