Almost 100 VSV students found joy and inspiration at a recent street art tour for Middle Years students.

The tour was led by Salvo who is a street artist.

Students were fascinated to learn the different styles of street art including tags, throw ups, paste ups, murals, sculptures, and more.

Salvo explained the message and politics behind some of the more famous pieces in Hosier Lane and AC/DC Lane. He also revealed the hidden honour code of street artists and how they demonstrate respect for one another.

The in-person event was followed by a stencil and spray workshop. Students learned how to layer stencils to create depth and different colours and shapes.

VSV staff were thrilled to see students leaving with their own masterpieces and smiles.

One student commented, “I had a wonderful time on the excursion and it was really nice to meet some of my peers and teachers face-to-face! Everyone was so nice and I will almost definitely be going on another excursion!”
