A review of Connect Day by Thomas, SRC’s Senior School Representative
Connect Day was hosted on the VSV campus in Thornbury in early June.
The event was a success, bringing together students for a day filled with engaging activities, a lunchtime barbeque, and opportunities to create new social connections. Students participated in various social activities, board games, and a barbeque, offering vegan choices so everyone could enjoy a nice sausage.
The atmosphere was very welcoming, students socialised throughout the day and forged new friendships despite coming from an online platform. The event was organised very well. Everyone was involved thanks to the support of the teachers.
Towards the end of the event, everyone was playing games together, ranging from made-up ones to Connect Four. Everyone was engaging, socialising, and enjoying each other’s company.
This particular Connect Day emphasized the importance of social interaction, creating more of an opportunity for students to socialise.
I got the opportunity to introduce myself as the Senior School Representative and be involved in suggesting ideas to enhance the social aspect of the event, ensuring that Connect Day was not just about being an informative event but also fostering social connections.
Looking ahead, I hope that there will be more events centred around social interaction.
Connect Day has proven to be an excellent platform for students to build relationships. I strongly encourage other students to attend these events whenever possible. Social school events like Connect Day play a crucial role in improving quality of life by providing a sense of belonging and community. Each Connect Day I have attended has been an excellent experience, I’ve met a lot of cool people and made a lot of new friends, and I believe that more students should take the opportunity to participate within the VSV community and make some new friends.
